Born in Dallas and raised in Oklahoma, Dr Stephenson is a second-generation orthopedic surgeon whose father practiced in Oklahoma for 30 years before retiring. Dr Stephenson received a BS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and worked as an engineer for 4 years before starting medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. After graduating medical school with honors, she stayed at UTMB for orthopedic surgery residency and then as faculty specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery.
